Ras Kass vs. Game

Vor genauer einer Woche berichteten mehrere Hiphop-Seiten im In- und Ausland über einen heftigen Disput zwischen Ras Kass und The Game in einem Nachtclub in L.A.
Dabei liegt der ursprüngliche Grund für die Meinungsverschiedenheit beim Ras Kass-Song Caution, in dem er rappt:
"Get a thousand tattoos and won't raise ya gun / so when you get merked I'ma raise ya son."
Zu den Vorfällen im Club äußerte sich Ras Kass gegenüber AllHipHop.com wie folgt:
"The ni**a tried to jump me 30 to 2, yet I'm alive and chillin' my sweater is still white and all my jewelry intact. Game is a 'Change of Heart,' stripping, fake-ass blood who sold some records riding Dr Dre's shirt tails. I guess he thought this would help him sell some more records. I was so unfazed by it all that I went up to his car afterwards and challenged him right there. Game is no match for me physically or lyrically."
The Games Sicht der Dinge dagegen ist:
"Aint nobody hit that dude but me, he's crazy talking about 30 people. I never had beef and never met Ras Kass, unless it was a quick exhange saying hello. He talked about my son by name. You can say what you want about me, but what does my son got to do with it? I seen the n***a in the club. I walked up to him in the club and it was my mans birthday, so I didn't want to mess up his party. When the lights came on, at the end I asked him about the freestyle. He said it wasn't nothing, but he started in on that 'it's whatever I'm Ras Kass and punched him in the face before he could finish.I don't benefit me to mess with these kinds of small cats, Ras Kass' career is over, I ended it with that one punch last night."

Ob dieser letzte Satz tatsächlich zutrifft ist unwahrscheinlich.
Ein Autor von HiphopDX hat sich auf jeden Fall die Mühe gemacht, einen offenen Brief an Ras Kass, The Game und die HipHop-Community zu schreiben, in dem er die beiden Rapper bittet, den Beef 'on wax' und nicht per Faust und Waffen auszutragen.
Auch die Industrie hält der Autor für mitschuldig an der Eskalation im HipHop-Biz:
"This industry is looking to chew up and swallow artists like you for being self destructive individuals. The praise you deserve from them doesn’t stem from Ras’ ridiculous double and triple entendres and jaw dropping punchlines or Game’s raw lyricism and gruff narratives. The attention they give you will stem from conflict and our own self destruction. You both know that this industry feeds off of that. We have to make a point to denounce violent acts in Hip Hop and teach our children (and those with child-like minds ) that violence is not the answer."
Der Brief ist lesenswert, auch wenn ich zugeben muss, dass ich das in den darunter stehenden Kommentaren stehende Interview von Ras Kass wesentlich amüsanter fand (gibts auch unter diesem Link zu lesen).
Und die Moral von der Geschicht': auch ich finde es nicht erstrebenswert, dass mein favorite Rapper (Ras Kass) womöglich als Folge eines Beefs im Sarg landet, aber gegen Disstracks habe ich weiterhin nichts - im Gegenteil, die sind oft bessere Songs als jene, die es auf die Alben schaffen.
In diesem Sinne: keep on dissin' and releasing...
